Fun fact. If Trump would have held his crypto marketing event/UFC cockfight/80th birthday party in Las Vegas (as god obviously intended) the state could have subsidized it with public money and then swore the fabulous event never would have happened if not for tax breaks and other economic development "incentives."
IN NEVADA CURRENT
"Arbitrary and capricious and unlawful." That’d be your Trump administration, according to a federal judge. Yes. Shocking. Said no one. Alas, like so much else having to do with the Trump regime (DOGE, the Iran war, the illegal tariffs) even though everybody can plainly see what a hot mess it all is, the damage is done. In other words, even though the Trump administration broke the law when it deprived the Walker River Paiute Tribe of money for infrastructure improvements, the improvements still might not get funded. Jeniffer Solis reports: Federal judge rules EPA illegally cut climate justice grants, including $20 million for tribe in NV
That's great! Oh. Wait. The Trump administration established the rural health program under the grotesquely named Big Beautiful Bill to offset part of the bill's substantial cuts to Medicaid and, by extension, rural health care delivery systems. By one estimate, Nevada will lose about half a billion, all in all. But in the meantime, please enjoy this $36 million. Michael Lyle reports: State names first round of projects funded by federal rural health program
Note: Earlier this year the national debt became larger than U.S. gross domestic product for the first time since World War II. Admittedly I've never been much of a debt and deficit hawk. But even I'm getting freaked out. The monstrosity Trump and his bootlicking congressional Republicans enacted last summer will not only aggravate the debt by trillions of more dollars. At the same time, it cuts spending on health programs, along with investments (which is what they are) in research and infrastructure and other nice things the U.S. used to be good at. A key justification for debt is that it is in fact investment, and that you get something better — a return — over time as a result. And for a lot of the nation's history, that's worked. The nation was built on debt ferchrissake — arguably Hamilton's greatest contribution to the new nation was managing its debt. But now Trump comes along and ... gah, what an omnishambles.

Trump lawyer who helped organize NV fake electors draws reprimand from FL Supreme Court. You know this dude's just hoping and praying Trump salvages that anti-weaponization fund. Same probably goes for Nevada's fake electors ha ha. What a quirky timeline we landed in! Via Florida Phoenix.
Iran and US scheduled to sign an agreement Friday, but details are murky. No, the war's not over yet. And it might not be by Friday, either. Or 60 days after that. A lot of, let’s say, mercurial personalities are involved, you see. Via DC bureau.
