A roundup of the latest from the Nevada Current,
presented with perspective and opinion.

Republican voters in Nevada's ruby red second congressional district rejected a fourth generation rancher and long-time state legislator, and instead launched into the general election some guy who only relatively recently discovered the district’s existence and who seems to think the biggest threat facing the U.S. is Sharia law. While watching the results trickle in, I kept thinking: "Home means Nevada, indeed."
I can't really say I was surprised — David Flippo the Office Shopping Flipper had Trump's endorsement, after all. But Flippo's win over the Republican who had been endorsed by the governor and the current occupant of the congressional seat sort of suggests that whatever CD Republican voters think the "Nevada way" is, in the minds of a majority of them, it can’t compare to the Trump way. Good to know.
IN NEVADA CURRENT
The intersection of health care and homelessness. Do yourself a favor (and give yourself a break from politics) and read this richly reported enterprise story by Micheal Lyle on the Southern Nevada Health District's new initiative to get health care to Nevadans experiencing homelessness. Some of the situations Michael encountered are pretty grim. But the effort to address the need is also heartening. A really informative and interesting read. My thanks to the Nevada Current staff — we stayed up (way past my bedtime) to chronicle and add context to the primary results. There are still some outstanding races, and some we didn't get to (clean up in aisle whatever as the rest of the week progresses). But Dana did managed to even slip in some results of judge races! We'll do it again in November. 2026 primary election results
Oh, Cisco. Accidentally sending election results to a news organization before the polls closed is ... quite the snafu, no? I assume some Republicans (including perhaps Dear Leader himself) will fold and spindle this in the most salacious and sensationalized way possible, facts be damned, in keeping with Trump's long-standing mission to thoroughly discredit and undermine democracy. But maybe they'll surprise me. Jeniffer Solis wraps up that incident and some other matters from yesterday's proceedings: Primary process recap: New voting machines, low turnout, and a premature results release
