Spirit goes poof but it's not Trump's fault. Spirit Airlines has been on the financial ropes for years. But mean old Joe Biden's administration wouldn't approve a Spirit merger with Jet Blue, Trump Trumpsplains. So like everything else, Spirit's demise is Biden's fault. Obviously. The prohibitively high cost of jet fuel that is totally the result of one of the most dunderheaded geopolitical blunders in history and which can be laid at the doorstep of one man, and that man is named Donald J. Trump, had nothing to do with it. Yes, Spirit's statement cited "the recent material increase in oil prices" as the straw that broke the camel's back. But when Trump was in Las Vegas last month he declared his war, which he says is not a war, even though he calls it a war, is going "swimmingly." So in conclusion, everything is still Joe Biden's fault everywhere all at once, the end.
IN NEVADA CURRENT
Big tent. The president of the Laborers Union Local 872 which so many Nevada Democrats canoodle with/bow to is running for an Assembly seat in a Democratic primary, even though he's full-on MAGA and was a Republican until recently. Makes sense. Sure, the union's leadership is unapologetically awash in MAGA manospheric toxicity. But Nevada Democrats routinely suck up to it anyway. Reaching across the aisle! Matthew Mondschein reports: Republican union official switches parties to run as Democrat in state Assembly primary
On a more encouraging note... Occasionally in these nonpartisan down-ballot races it can seem like ugh there are no good choices. That does not appear to be the case in this instance: Dana Gentry reports: Attorneys vie for open seat in Clark County Family Court
Chaos follows him. No, not Trump. Well, not just Trump. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts, too. What an omnishambles. Louisiana's Republican governor just cold canceled the U.S. House races after the Trump Court (John Roberts, maître d') ruled last week that civil rights are unAmerican. Other Southern states are moving in the same chaotic direction. Via Louisiana Illuminator: Louisiana early voting kicks off with confusion over election changes
Need someplace to live? Let the market decide. "Current legislation under consideration by Congress doesn’t directly address renters’ rights. Instead, it seeks to streamline costs and regulations for builders to boost the housing supply, while giving access to more financing for buyers." See? The Nevada way is the American way, yippee! Informative comparative analysis of the approach in the US vs the UK, via The Conversation. UK’s ‘once in a generation’ housing law takes effect as US housing legislation sits in purgatory
Good luck
