Root bests Lombardo in local round of Trump Games.  David Flippo "is strongly supported by the most Highly Respected MAGA Warriors in Nevada," Trump declared while endorsing Flippo for the Republican nomination in Nevada's 2nd congressional district the other day.

Trump was no doubt referring to professional carnival barker and conspiracy-spouting crackpot Wayne Allyn Root, who backs Flippo. Root has been an occasional warm-up act at Trump's Nevada events over the years, and once compared Trump to "the second coming of God."

James Settelmeyer is endorsed by the district's current congressman, Republican Mark Amodei. More interestingly, Settelmeyer is also endorsed by Nevada’s Republican governor and self-styled Trump-whisperer Joe Lombardo.

Maybe if Lombardo hadn't been AWOL at Trump's Las Vegas event in April, Trump might have bestowed more regard to Lombardo's endorsement. Oh well. At least Lombardo (who earlier this year described Root as an "awesome spokesperson" for the Republican Party) can be thankful Root didn't primary him ha ha.

IN NEVADA CURRENT

It's hot, part 1. If passed, the legislation could provide funding to states for more cooling stations, water access, and even repairs to roads and infrastructure damaged by extreme temperatures. “We try to impress on people that more deaths are caused by extreme heat than by flooding and tornadoes and hurricanes all together,” Rep. Dina Titus said. Jeniffer Solis reports: Titus pushes extreme heat bill ahead of summer

It's hot, part 2. "Hydrate," we are advised. And rightly so. But what if you don't have water? Michael Lyle reports: Local heat mitigation plans lack details on access to public drinking water

Public health own goal right here. Nationally there have been 1,983 measles cases this year, nearly the 2,288 total for all of 2025, which in itself was the worst year since 1991, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported Friday. Stateline's Tim Henderson reports: Measles, whooping cough spike amid low vaccination rates.

Your DEA is set to hold its first hearing at the end of June on the possible de-scheduling of marijuana broadly, which would include recreational or adult-use cannabis. Until then, little is expected to change for the cannabis industry in Nevada and the other states where recreational marijuana is legal. Stateline's Amanda Hernández reports The feds have embraced medical marijuana. Now what?

Good Luck
