Happy Nevada Primary Eve. The Republican race between James Settelmeyer and David Flippo (and others) in congressional district 2 is the most suspenseful of the higher profile contests in tomorrow’s primary.

Flippo got Trump's endorsement. But Settelmeyer can take heart because in Iowa last week the candidate for governor who got Trump's endorsement lost the primary. Which goes to show it can happen.

Settelmeyer can also take heart because presumably a substantial portion of CD2 Republican voters realize Flippo the flipper (from one congressional district race to another this year in a blazing display of naked opportunism) is one of the lowest-quality Nevada Republican congressional candidates of the last, oh, ten years. We're talking Dan Rodimer-Jim Marchant caliber.

But Flippo can take heart because the person who beat the Trump-endorsed candidate in Iowa was endorsed by Turning Point Action. So is Flippo.

From the purely selfish standpoint of a guy whose job includes writing about politicians, Flippo, who leans hard into MAGA goofdom, would be a lot more entertaining in a general election and beyond than Settelmeyer, whose traditional western state mining-ranching worship makes him about as intriguing as the guy he and Flippo are trying to replace, Rep. Mark Amodei.

T'will be interesting to see what CD2 Republican voters do.
