Such a "deal." “If it" — the purported agreement with Iran —  "was so great, wouldn’t the president have printed it on gold leaf paper and sent it out to all of us?” asked Nevada Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen in a brief interview with NOTUS.

Sadly, no details were included on what if anything Rosen has been providing, on gold leaf paper or via any other medium, in the way of Mideast war advice or guidance to her old friend Netanyahu.

IN NEVADA CURRENT

How are new state prison regs working? State legislation was enacted in 2023 to enhance protections for incarcerated transgender people (there are reportedly 70 of them in the Nevada system). That same year legislation designed to restrain the system’s use of solitary confinement was also enacted. Then protocols were developed to inform the implementation of the new statutes. So how's that implementation going? With respect to some questions asked by state lawmakers, NDOC officials Tuesday were pleased to answer promptly: They said they didn't know. Micheal Lyle reports: Lawmakers question effectiveness of recent prison regs on trans protections, use of solitary

Congratulations to the political consultants in the Henderson mayor's race. It appears no one is going to clear 50% of the vote, so the race will go to a runoff in the general election. Now all the consultants have to do is raise some more money from the Henderson business community to finance a) an unexpectedly extended campaign, and b) a surprise windfall to the consultants' own revenue streams between now and November. Just kidding! Ok not really. But what I mean to say is congratulations to the voters of Henderson. The city's mayor is traditionally selected by tacit agreement within the aforementioned business community, and presumably that was the plan this year. But maybe a wrench has been tossed in it. Dana Gentry reports: Henderson mayoral race likely headed for runoff

Good angle on a good issue. In this guest column, a trio of veterans note that as veterans reenter the Nevada workforce, like so many other working Nevadans, they often don't get any paid family medical leave, and that sucks. Paid family medical leave helps veterans transition out of the service. Too bad Lombardo vetoed it.

What's behind door number two? Apologies for not changing one of the words in the headline on this story. The word "deal" has become so tiresome. Yes, the U.S. selected a game show host as president. But it wasn't Monty Hall (google him, young'ns). And the "deal" (to use the word Trump says a jillion times a day) that they're not releasing details about until Friday (perhaps because it hasn't been reached) isn't an agreement to end the war. Assuming it is signed by both parties, it will be an agreement to start working on an agreement. All that said, the not uninteresting Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy sounds about right when he says “If what’s reported is real, it’s Iran’s terms. I mean, it’s essentially a surrender" by Trump. Jennifer Shutt reports: Senate Republicans left in dark by Trump on Iran deal, but want details and a vote

Good Luck
