A roundup of the latest from the Nevada Current,
presented with perspective and opinion.

No Republican has been elected in Nevada's first congressional district since 1996, and no Republican has been elected in the third or fourth congressional districts since 2014. They are hard districts for Republicans to win. It's amusing to imagine how this year’s Republican challengers in those districts reacted when they found out Trump said "I love the inflation" yesterday.
IN NEVADA CURRENT
Cue the tiny violins. Laborers Local 872 and the Clark County Education Association, which both lobbied for the subsidy program benefiting Sony Pictures Entertainment, Warner Brothers Discovery, and real estate developer Howard Hughes Holdings, spent oodles to oust legislators who voted against it. Awwww. April Corbin Girnus, whose excellent coverage of this scheme has been second to none for (yikes!) years, reports: Film studio fallout fizzles as voters back incumbents despite positions on ‘Hollywood handout’
There's an argument to be made (and I've made it) that a puzzling reluctance to tie Joe Lombardo to Donald Trump was a fundamental mistake of Steve Sisolak's campaign when he was running for reelection against Lombardo in 2022. Aaron Ford won't be repeating that mistake this year. Dana Gentry reports: Democratic primary winners promise campaign tying Lombardo, Republicans to Trump
Nevada near bottom of good lists update: Given where the nation is now and the path of continued deterioration Trump is leading it down, perhaps the most likely way Nevada will ever move up in these rankings is if other states — forced by circumstances and federal imprimatur to abandon their own commitments to their residents’ well-being — move down. Micheal Lyle reports: Kids Count report ranks NV 46th in child well-being
Speaking of entropy… “Last year, you promised improvements. Today, Las Vegas disability applicants are waiting nearly 11 months," said Nevada Democratic U.S. Rep. Steven Horsford. Jennifer Shutt reports: Horsford hammers Social Security Commissioner on wretchedly long wait times
Good Luck
