NV Republicans not that into talking about 14th Amendment

"All I can say is count me out, enough is enough. I’ve tried to be helpful," Lindsay Graham declared on the Senate floor the evening of January 6, 2021.

Like the the vast majority of his fellow congressional Republicans who would condemn the violent Trump-fueled coup attempt that night or in following days — indeed, more predictably than most — Graham would resume bowing and scraping before Trump in a matter of weeks.

IN NEVADA CURRENT

Even though those darned RINOs on the Supreme Court wouldn't eliminate birthright citizenship it'll be easy-peasy for Congress to get rid of it, Trump declared the other day. House Speaker Mike Johnson echoed the sentiment, Johnson's mission in life being to nod idiotically like a bobblehead at anything and everything Trump says.

So are Nevada Republican U.S. House candidates, who if elected will be expected to help make all Trump's dreams and wishes come true, psyched about getting rid of birthright citizenship?

How about Nevada's Republican governor?

As it happens, a couple of the congressional candidates are not particularly excited about fulfilling that particular Trump wish. The others didn’t say squat.

Your governor’s lips are similarly zipped, because some of the best Nevada political minds money can buy are spending eleventy-jillion American dollars evidently devising and executing a reelection strategy wherein the governor is only allowed to say what the deeply financed strategy says he can say, and it looks like a position on birthright citizenship ain't on that list. Trump guts election commission in move seen as increasing his sway over midterms. Hopefully this latest aggression is more an act of gratuitous vandalism (ooh, look, let's throw this too!) than debilitating sabotage, and won't overly burden state and local election officials. But one never knows.
