A roundup of the latest from the Nevada Current,
presented with perspective and opinion.

The president yesterday endorsed Adriana Guzmán Fralick in the Republican primary for Nevada attorney general. It’s a blow for Douglas County Commissioner Danny Tarkanian, who is demonstrably more aligned with Trump than Guzmán Fralick. The most notable thing in the endorsement post: “Adriana is strongly supported by many of the greatest MAGA Warriors in Nevada, including my friend, Governor Joe Lombardo, among others!”

Remember it, folks. Trump and Lombardo are buddies, two peas in a pod, besties maybe!

IN NEVADA CURRENT

We’re on an NV Energy power plaaaaaaay… Reporter Dana Gentry takes a look at NV Energy’s integrated resource plan, which includes a lot of spending in Northern Nevada and some real risk to consumers: NV Energy betting the house on data centers

Commentary “For many Nevadans, colorectal cancer screening is not being skipped because people do not care about their health. It is being delayed because preventive care often does not fit into the realities of everyday life. Between work schedules, transportation challenges, caregiving responsibilities, and limited access to care, too many people are falling behind on screenings that could save their lives.” So begins this guest commentary from Will Rucker, reminding us all that preventive care only works when Nevadans can actually access it

Medicaid Changes to Medicaid are likely to be huge — yuuuuge, even — issue for Nevada (and other states) next year. Stateline takes a look at some of the particulars: States face tight timeline as feds unveil new Medicaid work requirement rules

Slush fund squashed… The good news here is that Trump’s widely criticized slush fund is being abandoned. The bad news here is that Congress will pivot to funding other things that are morally questionable. From States Newsroom’s DC Bureau: Trump administration dumps $1.77B ‘anti-weaponization’ fund

Bonus non-Current content Yes, this piece from SFGATE references the population of the City of Las Vegas and ignores the rest of the metro area. And yeah it nitpicks some stuff. But I’m not gonna miss the forest for the trees. Enjoy this dunk on Elon’s musky tunnels: I rode Elon Musk's Vegas Loop, the worst transit system on Earth
