Brain-eating amoebas, possibly in Nevada, are the focus of this USA TODAY story. So that’s disturbing. Then again, Bobby Kennedy Jr. had a whole worm in his brain,* and he seems perfectly normal.

IN NEVADA CURRENT
It's not just California! Blaming California for ... everything .. has been a cherished Nevada pastime ever since the state of Nevada was created in 1864 by (checks notes) Californians. Meanwhile, Chris Wright, the Trump administration's Energy Secretary (who should know better), along with Little Marco and other assorted Trump minions, are fond of saying the U.S. is a net exporter of oil. That's sort of true, if by oil, they mean all oil products, including and especially natural gas liquids. But the U.S. still imports more crude oil than it exports. And so... It’s not (just) location: Why gas is so high in NV even though US is a net exporter of oil products
"Unwieldy tourism is a global story, yet Nevada’s over-reliance on tourism has elevated challenges to a new level. The state faces the paradox of too little visitation in Las Vegas, and too much around Lake Tahoe." Great (and scary) column by Pamela Tsigdinos: Amid elevated disaster risks Tahoe cannot afford tourism business-driven governance
Quite the crock. "I don’t think about Americans’ financial situation" while he's floundering about in, er, desperately seeking an exit from the Iran war, Trump says. Because his only concern is the nuclear weapon that Iran doesn't have (and judging by its ongoing humiliation of the U.S., evidently doesn't even need). Meanwhile... Ashley Murray reports: Cost of Iran war rises to $29B as US gas prices spike
Attention, Nevada Dept. of Corrections: You know that contract deal you hooked up with that slams incarcerated folks with junk fees? You're doing it wrong. Stateline's Amanda Hernández reports: Free prison, jail calls linked to lower costs, better outcomes in new report
Good luck
