While in Las Vegas Thursday, Trump assured Nevada the Iran war “is going swimmingly.”
“We can do whatever we want," Trump cooed. "And it should be ending pretty soon. It was perfect. It was perfect.”
Some are convinced Trump says stuff like that to juice the stock markets.
Others contend Trump is just blurting whatever gibberish happens to be meandering through his addled noggin at any given time.
Whichever, the result is the same. To paraphrase George W. Bush Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, you go to war with the narcissistic reprobate you have, not the principled and competent leader you might want or wish to have at a later time.
IN NEVADA CURRENT
Predatory junk economy update. During last year's legislative session your friendly Nevada Current reported a story about a scheme wherein a company would offer homeowners a "promotional fee" for the firm to conduct a market analysis of their home. Unwittingly, homeowners would end up signing a long-term, exclusive commitment to list with that company if/when they sold. Then if they ended up selling but failed to list with that company, they were hit with an early termination fee, typically 3% of the home’s sale price. Creepy, no? April Corbin Girnus, who reported the story during the session, reports a (mostly) positive update: State of Nevada announces settlement with predatory realty company
Top of a good list. Ample access, low wait times, rigorous procedural monitoring... one of Nevada's best-kept secrets might be that it has always been good at running elections. In fact, an MIT report ranks Nevada second-best in the nation. Matthew Mondschein reports: Nevada among nation’s best at administering elections, MIT report finds
Have you been paying attention to the humiliations and skullduggery and general madcap antics characterizing the governor's race over yonder western hills, where so many Nevadans have so many friends and family? This is a fine overview of the state o' play, via CalMatters: California Democrats can’t decide on a governor. Don’t count on Newsom or Pelosi for help
Location, location... Medicaid policy. Illinois allows its state Medicaid program to cover abortion procedures. And Indiana is not only next door, but also, well, Indiana. Also, central location in general has a lot to do with it. Interesting read from States Newsroom's Kelcie Moseley-Morris: Nearly 1 in 4 people seeking abortions out of state chose Illinois. Here’s why.
Good Luck
