A roundup of the latest from the Nevada Current,
presented with perspective and opinion.

“Curb your schadenfreude,” is what I’m tempted to say, followed by detailing obvious observations —  the work has only begun, the undoing will be a long and very hard slog, there are still multiple systemic barriers to fixing things that need fixed, some of those barriers will be shored up and defended by people in the very party that is currently celebrating Trump and his obedient Republicans collectively stepping on the rake, etc., etc., etc.

But as you might surmise from the timestamps on our coverage from last night/this morning (mostly this morning), I’m just a wee bit tired. There will be plenty of time for The Unpacking later.

IN THE NEVADA CURRENT

One-term Joe. Maybe Lombardo and his high-dollar accomplices should have spent more — some? — time acknowledging the affordability crisis and offering some remedies for it (apart from further unshackling and coddling business and industry), instead of spending all that time and money on race-baiting ads in the hope of winning the 2026 Willie Horton Sweepstakes. But hey, they’re the professional campaign expert-texperts. I’m just a lame duck editor. Lombardo falls to Ford as Republicans nationwide suffer historically brutal election

Bit of a bloodbath. As this is written the electoral fate of tragicomic figure David Flippo in Nevada’s 2nd congressional district has yet to be determined. But the election was a bit of a bloodbath for pretty much all of Flippo’s fellow Nevada Republicans (a descriptor to which many of those fellow Nevada Republicans would no doubt object). Anyway, if Nevada state dogcatcher was an elected office, a) it would be an elected office with more day to day responsibilities than that of the lieutenant governor (just saying), and b) Republicans would have lost that race too. A harsh election for Nevada Republicans: More results

Hmm, it’s not immediately clear if or how this action is in harmony with the economic concerns driving the election results, tbh. Michale Lyle reports: Clark County approves quicker, easier short-term rental application process

As someone (raises hand) has observed before, of the states where both U.S. senators are Democrats, Nevada’s pair is the most Republican-adjacent. So it’ll be interesting (and probably soul-crushing on occasion) to see how their vibe holds up/shakes out in the new world order. Via the D.C. bureau: Democrats score control of US Senate in stunning midterm victory

Good luck
