A roundup of the latest from the Nevada Current,
presented with perspective and opinion.

Happy Saturday. The average price of gas in Nevada is currently $4.67, according to the AAA tracker.
A year ago it was $3.80.
But a month ago it was $5.24.
The fundamentals of the election — affordability — suggest Republicans will take a shellacking in the midterms.
But assuming U.S.-Iran negotiations don't collapse and gas prices don't spike again, voters in Nevada and the nation could elect a surprising number of Republicans this year. Because a) Trump made gas prices go up a lot with his dumb war but then he surrendered to Iran and that made prices start to come down again so ooh art of the deal or whatever, and b) there was that UFC fight night on the White House lawn.
On the bright side (where I’m always looking) my grasp of the notoriously fickle U.S. electorate’s feelies can be, you know, hit and miss.
