A roundup of the latest from the Nevada Current,
presented with perspective and opinion.

Happy Saturday. Earlier this week I took some time to mark up my sample ballot, including for all those races for judge. I was able to make informed choices on those and other lower profile down-ballot — but important! — races because I consulted the Nevada Current 2026 General Election Voter Guide.

My plan today is to fill out the official ballot that the state of Nevada very conveniently mailed to me and every other voter in the state whether Joe Lombardo and Donald Trump like it or not, swing by the early voting place down the street, and put it in a drop box.

Am I fully satisfied with the candidates and the manner in which they have confronted the most urgent priorities facing our communities, our state, and our nation this year? Ha ha there has never in my life been an election when that has been the case, and I’m confident there never will be. But I always vote anyway, because it is literally the very least a citizen can do for one’s country —  and for one’s fellow citizens, for that matter.

And I’ll admit the responsibility to vote has been sharply underscored this year by Trump’s urgent demand that we all pretend he’s on the ballot. I for one am more than happy to comply, Mr. President.
