Whew! AI oligarchs have made a pinky promise with your president that they will “self regulate” their terrifyingly hyperscaled creations. And your president has declared the pinky-promised agreement is “morally binding,” a term which, when describing oligarchical behavior, and especially when uttered by this particular president, certainly does sound iron-clad.

So thank goodness all that’s finally sorted! Now we can take AI and its data centers off the campaign trail. And the crackerjack professionals working so hard to get Joe Lombardo reelected are free to do what they do best: puff up micro-scandals.

IN NEVADA CURRENT

Treasure hunt. One-time minor celebrity whackadoodle Michele Fiore ran for state treasurer four years ago, so that was fun. This year’s Republican entry for the job is a professional right-wing think tanker. Meanwhile the Democratic candidate is someone who has prepared for the job by actually working in the office. How quaint. Jeniffer Solis reports: State treasurer race pits office’s current deputy against think tank analyst

The other House race. Compared to the likes of David Flippo, Carrie Buck, and Marty O’Donnell, Cody Whipple looks like he might be a more or less sensible and perhaps competent Republican congressional candidate, at least by Trump-era standards. But a Republican has only won CD4 once, during the fluke red wave year of 2014. And 2026 ain’t 2014. Compared to NV’s other U.S. House races, CD4 flies under the radar
