A roundup of the latest from the Nevada Current,
presented with perspective and opinion.

Too big to rig? Last week I suggested — and hoped — that Nevada, mostly by virtue of not having a U.S. Senate race, might be spared Trump’s election-related lawsuits, off-with-their-heads executive orders, ICE incursions, militarized ballot-seizing, or other such MAGA mayhem, malice, and madness.

After all, attorneys, voting rights organizations, election officials, the press, and a substantial portion of the public were all bracing for Trump’s onslaughts against free and fair elections. And for good reason. The dude has spent the last decade deliberately attempting to undermine democracy and supplant it with autocracy. Plus he fired up a violent mob to forcibly attack the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overthrow an election that one time.

And how ‘bout that dummymandering?

But I thought — and hoped — Nevada would be spared Trump’s malice, neither Joe Lombardo nor David Flippo, Trump’s top Republican Nevada assets this cycle, being worth much fuss.

Now it appears maybe everywhere has been spared from Trump’s post-election malevolence.

Sure, he wasn’t on the ballot so doesn’t really care. And he’s preoccupied with his asinine remodeling/redecorating projects, so may not have the bandwidth to launch another front in his perpetual war on democracy.

But at bottom, the public repudiation of him, his presidency, and his obedient pet Republicans in elected offices nationwide was so overwhelming and unequivocal it cowered Trump and his creepy henchmen and minions.

Nice work everyone.

IN THE NEVADA CURRENT

Meanwhile, down the ballot… Since, as per the above, the staff of your friendly Nevada Current was thankfully not forced to chronicle fresh & Trumpy salvos against free and fair elections yesterday, we were afforded the opportunity to cobble together some items on a bunch of races from further down the ballot, including (but not limited to): the Boulder City data center vote (and the Clark County Education Association’s bizarre but dogged rededication to support for more data centers); outcomes, or at least the status, of some of the municipal and county contests; the blue wave washing way down to … state controller?; a first glimpse at the dozens of races for judge; and more. Those and other entries are all compiled, listed, and easily accessed here.

Nevada’s answer to Ken Paxton, Darline Graham, etc. Trump picked Flippo, and that is why Republicans lost a ruby red seat. Benitez-Thompson makes history as first Democrat to win NV 2nd congressional district

Also, a couple entries in a newly prominent genre:

Good luck
